I edit many tracks to be around 3 minutes long, and being able to look up the perfect track in a 200-track crate when I have 2 minutes to find a track and mix it in is made possible by this system. Inb4 "give up your autistic labeling system". Which of these things can I export to Rekordbox? I'm looking at some gigs where they already have all-Pioneer systems, no room for me to bring in my own gear, and it's basically "CDs, Rekordbox, or GTFO". The cues, track and cue colors, and Beatgrid with tempo changes are what I would have to manually re-create after I got done crying. I can live with creating my Crates and Smart Crates again that's fairly simple.

I do not want to lose it or have to re-tag everything all over again (that could take all my free time for a year). I have about a decade of music tagged with this metadata, and I use all of it. I name my cues in addition to coloring them, so there will be "16 IN", "32 IN", "24 OUT", "8 OUT", and so on. I have a system for cue point colors (yellow for possible mix-in points, green for "mix in now, last chance", orange for potential mix-out points, and red for "mix out now, only a few bars left). I have a good number of tracks with tempo changes. On each track, I set the track color (I have a system for indicating how long I have to mix the track in, like yellow for 16 bars and green for 32 and so on). Within SDJ, I have crates (for gigs) and Smart Crates (for keys and BPM ranges). I do not import tracks for any other locations. I have iTunes set up to consolidate and organize my library, so all of my tracks are in the iTunes folder structure.įrom iTunes, I drag tracks into Mixed in Key only for key tagging.įinally, I have SDJ set to automatically import my iTunes library. into iTunes, where I create genre Smart Playlists and edit metadata (artist, album, title, etc.).

  • Side note: do the DJM-S9 or the XDJ-1000 (or any other Pioneer hardware) come with a Rekordbox DJ license, like how Serato-branded hardware often includes a Serato DJ license? However, I'm worried about losing all my metadata from SDJ.Īnyone else have experience exporting SDJ metadata to Rekordbox? Seems like it's the standard now, and judging by what I read in the latest manual, I might be jumping ship (or at least running both SDJ and Rekordbox).
